Laser Locators, a world-wide leader selling ophthalmic lasers and diagnostic equipment, spent the entire month of December taking on large community outreach projects that touched dozens of children and families.
“I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the holidays than giving back to the community. I am grateful for my generous and hardworking team who helped make all of this possible,” said Sean O’Donnell, President and CEO of Laser Locators. Over the course of December, the Laser Locators team managed to take on five impactful outreach projects.
Laser Locators kicked off their season of giving by making over 20 care packages for the troops in Afghanistan, along with hand-written thank you letters for each soldier receiving a package. Each bundle contained more than 25 items ranging from books, neck pillows, cards, snacks, Christmas decorations, t-shirts, pens, stationery, puzzles and toiletries. Additionally, Laser Locators also donated t-shirts and gift cards to active duty service personnel based in the United States. They were able to use the gift cards to buy groceries, toiletries or presents for their families.
For their next project, Laser Locators adopted for the holidays, four classrooms of students at Potter Elementary, which incidentally is one of the lowest poverty schools in the nation, yet based right here in Hillsborough County. Each student received a new toy (wrapped by the entire team at Laser Locators) that accounted for over 80 gifts hand delivered by Santa and his elf “Happy” to spread some Christmas cheer to the boys and girls.
It didn’t stop there. Laser Locators continued their month of giving by purchasing several items from the Humane Society’s Wish List. These items were overflowing across eight large baskets and included treats, blankets, food, kitty litter and toys. Several team members took time out of their busy schedule to deliver all these goodies and take a tour of the facility. They were able to spend some time with many of the animals, meet the staff and volunteers whose lives they would touch through the donations.
To top it all off, the Laser Locators team hand-made 12 blankets and donated them to “Hands Across the Bay”, an organization founded by Julie Weintraub, that helps families who have fallen on hard times. Some members of the Laser Locators team personally delivered the blankets to Melissa Dohme, Dimitra Mantzaris and Steve Weintraub at Gold and Diamond Source, who are all affiliated with Hands Across the Bay, so that they in turn could deliver the soft blankets to families in need.
“It was an amazing experience, seeing the difference we made in just one short month. I only hope that what we inspired others to pay it forward this holiday season as well,” said Danielle Bruno the Director of Operations of Laser Locators.
